Hi all. I would like advice on how to be proactive and alleviate some of the symptoms of what I believe is sleep apnea during this quarantine time.
Before the quarantine, I got tested for sleep apnea and did the at-home test. At the time I was borderline obese and my results came and I got an AHI of 3. My doctor recommended that I check again next year and I had a very mild case and he did not believe it to be anything serious, but could go to a sleep lab if I really wanted to. No recommendation for CPAP was made. Of course the quarantine happened and there is nothing I can do at the moment since everything is closed, so I tried to alleviate some of the other symptoms by losing weight (I have lost 20 pounds since then so no longer obese), and by buying a wedge pillow and those nose attachments that you put in your nostril to open it up while sleeping. I have also downloaded the snore lab app and have tracked my snoring habits. From what I can hear I am not gasping for air (very rarely from the app, but moreso heavy snoring) but I have I found what works to help is the nose attachment, however I noticed there are some days where I wake up and my head doesn't hurt per se but it feels a pinch of lightheadedness. I also wake up some days feeling extra tired and cant get out of bed, even after 7-8 hours of sleep. When I can finally get up it is fine and I don't feel tired throughout the day but I used to be able to sleep 6 hours just fine, so I don't know if it is sleep apnea because it could also just be living in quarantine and not getting enough fresh air, exercise etc. I was wondering what I can do to alleviate some of these symptoms because I have no access to a doctor. Another key fact is that I move a lot when I sleep and I can tell from my snoring app my snoring will spike up on different times of the night, which I believe my sleeping position has a huge impact on, however I move unconsciously so any tips on how to alleviate that would be appreciated.
Thanks!
