Tried on different masks. The nasal one won't work because I'm a mouth breather. The small mask didn't work because it blew air up into my eyes! So I was stuck with the big honking mask with the head strap. Oh well.
Went to sleep pretty quickly -- about half an hour. The mask was a little annoying, but I was very tired so it wasn't that bad. All the wires and stuff for the test were a lot more annoying. Don't know the AHI numbers, but the technician said it went great and made a huge difference (my AHI on the first test was 20.2)...
I woke up at 4 (bathroom) and the tech said I could leave -- so I was still tired. Had about 6 hours of sleep. Came home and got to bed around 5 and slept till 9:30. I do feel much better.
So it seems the CPAP will help and I definitely need it. I'm in my 60s so I think I'm going to have to "catch up" on my sleep for a few days when I get my own machine - and that could take 3 weeks or so... I sure fell asleep quickly with it and slept very deeply -- lots of REM. I think this will be a good thing.
