Long story short I got diagnosed with mild sleep apnea (AHI 15) and set up with a Philips Respironics auto CPAP machine.
I was started out at 5cm2 pressure and could not make it through more than an hour or two without feeling right. Eventually I narrowed down the issue to "air hunger". I felt like I could never get enough air in, and this made it near impossible to fall asleep.
I worked my way up the pressure settings and noticed a comfortable air flow around 9cm2. I've also noticed that C-Flex seems more consistent than A-Flex in providing a feeling of consistent air flow. Q
However with the pressure increases i am noticing much more pressure in my head. The feeling is similar to holding and blowing against your nose, as when you're trying to pop your ears.
It's mildly uncomfortable and I can feel a bit of the pressure in my head/sinuses.
I believe that 9cm2 is a fairly common setting among CPAP users so I'm assuming this is a common experience.
Is this a normal thing to be experiencing? Is it harmful?
I feel that I'm currently stuck. I can lower the cpap pressure and reduce the pressure felt in my head, but then experience air hunger or keep the pressure higher and experience head symptoms.
I'm not really sure what steps to take next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
