Sleep Apnea in Childern

Hello! I just wanted to see if anyone could relate to my situation and share their experience and advice.

My son (11) has a sleep study coming up. He snores and gasps all night long. I don’t think he ever gets into REM sleep. Luckily, I have experience with this as I got his father to get treatment for his sleep apnea years ago. I hope I was able to catch it fairly quickly

It should be a fairly easy diagnosis as my son has very large tonsils and a small chin. Sounds like the first step, after the sleep study, will be a tonsillectomy.

Then I guess we talk about a cpap (his dad has an apap, I think)

Has anyone had to use a machine as a child?

Any experiences to share about how treatment helped you? I do want to share some of this with him so that he can see he’s not so alone.
