Sleep Study Results

Hello,

Just received my sleep study results.

I am not current on the terminology but in the 5hrs of sleep that they collected data on, I was told that I had about 129 moments where I was gasping for air. The doctor said 10 or so was normal.

This was over the phone as we could not do a face to face given the current situation.

Another thing that alarmed me was that he noted my heart would skip beats. He attributed this to my heart possibly mimicking my breathing pattern. Did anyone get something similar in their studies?

Up until 5 months ago I had been working out fairly regularly for a full year, but was put out of commission due to a back injury. I’ve gained some weight since then but have been a bit on the heavier side regardless. I noticed during my workouts that while I did gain a lot of muscle I was unable to lose much body fat/weight. I imagine this is attributed to the apnea.

Currently in a waiting stage as all offices are closed here during the quarantines.

I’m in Canada and also curious as to whether you get an option for a machine and which is recommended?

TL:DR - doctor noted heart skipping beats during test. Is this normal? And are you given options to choose which machine you get as it is covered here (with prescription)?

Thanks in advance!
