Hi, I recently did a home sleep study (Snap diagnostics). As it's my first time reading any results. I'd greatly appreciate any insight on what could be the underlying physiology/pathology or any other comments. Total analyzed sleep time: 345 min. Total recorded time 360 minutes.
Indices:
REI and AHI: 1.0
RDI: 8.0
MaxDen10(RDI): 36.9
Oximetry:
Time below 88%: 0 min 0%
Number of desaturations: 5
Lowest desaturation: 91%
oximetry baseliine: 99%
Recommendation made to me was that while the indices look fine over total analyzed sleep time, the Maximum Density Index is concerning enough to warrant trying out a CPAP. It appears that there is at least a 10-min period where there was 36.9 occurrences of Respiratory Disturbances? I'm still uncertain what the MaxDen actually means.
My questions:
- The machine supposedly recorded 6 hours at a time and I did it for 3 nights. There should be about 1080 minutes of time available for analysis. I don't know why the report says otherwise.
- What could be the underlying physiology/pathology that would cause a high density of disturbances in a short segment, i.e. 10-minute period? Does it have to do with brain forcing myself to enter certain sleep stage or inability to do so?
Some other things about myself, if it's helpful: I'm a 40-year old active female, BMI ~19.5,~ 22% body fat, active, on a relatively healthy diet. I have stage 1 hypertension and started on ACE inhibitor a few months ago. For a decade or more, I often notice that one side of my nostril gets congested when I lie down for an extended period of time. I was told I should try flonase but haven't gotten around to do it. I'm waiting for Covid19 to die down as I heard flonase decreases one's immune system. I speculate that hypertension could be related to my sleep disturbances but it also runs in my family.
Thank you very much!
