Insurance does not cover CPAP Machine

I am 21 year old male with severe apnea. I am overweight but nowhere near obese. I have some trouble breathing through my nose and suffer from allergies. I decided to go to the doctor because my friends noticed I completely stopped breathing during my sleep. I did the test and got a score of 85.7 which is insane especially for my age. I am ALWAYS tired no matter how much I sleep and I hate it. Sometimes I wake up at night gasping for air. My insurance told me that not only could they not cover the cost of the CPAP machine but they could not even cover the test needed so they can understand my breathing pattern. Apparently the previous test didn’t have that info ??? I have no idea what to do. Do you guys have any suggestions on what remedies or cheaper alternatives I can do? I am going to start trying to lose weight to see if it makes an impact but I’ve had this condition before the weight gain so I know it is not the cause but it might be making it worse.

I am 21 years old, 5’9 220 pounds (used to be 190) I am a college kid so i drink on the weekends and party I smoke marijuana on a regular basis but do not over abuse it Used to be an athlete
