Tonight I woke up feeling like I was choking for 6 to 7 times as far as I can remember. I have this more often but not at the same intensity every night. I feel like it happens more after a long day and when I sleep deeper (because my tissues get more relaxed?). I have done a sleep study twice, because during the day I'm always tired. I also snore a lot according to others.
The last one was done three years ago and I looked at the results again today. The institute noted nothing about sleep apnea, because the AHI was only 1.6 (both obstructive and central apneas), but I saw that the average breathing pause was 18 seconds with a maximum of 57 seconds. That strikes me as quite high, but because the AHI is below 5 nothing was done with it. I can't get any treatment or ENT research covered when I have no diagnosis of sleep apnea. I also have the problem that sleep studies are just not representative for me because I can ' t sleep well with all the gear and the pressure to sleep normally. During this sleep study, I spend only 10% in deep sleep.
Are there affordable ways to get more insights into my sleeping except for those sleep studies where I can ' t sleep well? Could a low AHI but long breathing pauses also be a cause of excessive daytime fatigue? Would a cheap anti-snore brace from the internet be enough to cover this issue? Thanks in advance for you help.
