I snore loudly, grind my teeth, need three alarms to wake up (otherwise I can't hear the alarm at all and can sleep through a max-volume alarm running on for an hour), yawn excessively (one every few minutes) if I don't wake up "naturally", can wake up after ten hours and go almost immediately back to sleep for another hour and a half, and sometimes feel I'm zoning out even though my vision is clear. But otherwise I'm not depressed or lazy, don't "fall asleep at the wheel" so to speak, and can "function" for weeks at a time even when I'm running on six hours. Should I consult a sleep doctor?
The reason I'm asking is that it's not easy to get a sleep test here without strong indicators, and I want to know whether I should be more forceful even if my symptoms might not seem serious if they could nevertheless be indicative of some issues with my health and sleep. But it seems I need to be falling asleep while trying to pay attention at work in order to be considered worth examining. Appreciate any comments on your experiences.
