Scared of CPAP

Hi guys, I am 18 years old and I have yet not visited a doctor. So I am self-diagnosed, I have known about the disorder and even thought about suffering from it. My friend told me that when I slept I would kinda suffocate from time to time. It scared the sh*t out of me for sure, because I already knew about this disorder. But I never felt tired throughout the day, so I thought to myself, why bother.

Well, I do feel the side effects now, tiredness, sore throat, headaches. It has been going like this for about three weeks. And I am getting anxious, I DO NOT WANT CPAP. I can't imagine myself using it. I hike a lot, love sleeping outdoors. Not even talking about having to sleep with it with my girlfriend next to me.

And I'm fit, slim athlete, so it's not the case of being fat around the neck, etc.

Never told anyone about this, super scared, embarrassed, but mainly scared.

How did you deal with this? And, is there someone else of similar age?

Thanks
