I am woman in my 30s, about 5 lbs overweight but run about 10-15 mi per week (BMI 25). I wake consciously from vivid dreams at least 2 times a night, but often more like 5-6. I can usually fall asleep again in a few minutes unless my anxiety kicks in. The dreams aren’t bad, just vivid. I don’t think I feel choking or gasping for air. I snore sometimes according to my partner, but not badly and relatively infrequently. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and a family history of sleep apnea (my mom, diagnosed in her 50s). I wake up more or less feeling ok I guess, groggy in the morning but who isn’t?!? I don’t fall asleep at the drop of a hat, but most days could probably take a nap if I laid down for one even though I’m in bed from about 10-6:30 or 7. Does this sound like possible sleep apnea?
I suspect what I’ll hear is — “yes, this could be sleep apnea, maybe it isn’t. Only way to know is to see a doctor for a sleep study.” I know, I know. But with medical care what it is at the moment, I’m just reaching out for any kind of info that might help me sleep a little better. Thoughts? Tips? Anything I could try while I wait to be able to get a sleep study? Sleeping like this just makes me so nervous!
