Because of Covid, I was unable to try all of the masks in person with the ResMed fit specialist (idk what they are called).
So obviously my doctor & the tech made me try the full face mask first. They sent the DreamWear mask, but I couldn’t get used to it because I am a side sleeper. It dug into my cheek and the straps hurt my neck pretty bad. I woke up every 2-3 hours and had lingering neck pain. However the nose part was very comfortable.
My tech mailed me a second mask to try - the Rio II with Nasal pillows. I am able to sleep mostly through the night with 3 episodes or less an hour, but sometimes wake up because my nostrils hurt so bad. They always hurt in the morning. I’ve tried adjusting the straps - loosening - but then the seal tends to break when I switch positions.
I want to try the AirFit N30 because it is a similar strap with no nasal pillows. Instead, it wraps around the bottom of the nose & sits flush against the nose with air holes. I expressed interest twice and my tech keeps saying that in her experience they tend to leak & are unreliable.
I guess at this point I have to demand to try it - though I hate being that person who pushes back.
I am wondering if what she says is accurate based on others experiences or if they are just trying to limit the number of masks they send me during this weird time. I am just trying to find a minimal options that does not cause pain!
Do you like the AirFit N30?!?!
